The corkscrew is the main tool to increase the heart rate of the patients in Amateur Surgeon. It has been absent in the later main titles ever since, being replaced by the easier to use injector.

Amateur Surgeon[]

The corkscrew is only available in the very first game. In order to use it, the player would have to select the corkscrew then the pain away gel (applying the corkscrew alone would harm the patient). A semi-transparent circle would appear with a red moving indicator, which the player would have to follow with the mouse to apply the healing successfully.

Amateur Surgeon: Christmas Edition[]

Though the corkscrew does not make a direct appearance in this game, a drill appears in the game which has the same purpose as the corkscrew.

In the files of the game, the injector is called "corkhol," meaning that the corkscrew may have been planned to make a return.
