Amateur Surgeon Theme

Amateur Surgeon is the first game from the Amateur Surgeon series, developed by Mediatonic Ltd. and published by Adult Swim. Amateur Surgeon is a surgery simulation game. Though the game is no longer active on its host site, its levels are fully functional in Amateur Surgeon 4: Re-Generations.

Story

The game follows the adventures of Dr. Alan Probe, a pizza boy and wannabe surgeon, and Dr. Bleed, a disgraced surgeon, who tries to commit suicide by walking in front of Alan's pizza van. Afterwards they work together to heal unlikely patients as a murderous mystery lurks in the city.

Gameplay

Save patients with an array of improvised tools such as salad tongs, an etch-a-sketch, and a car battery. Perform all sorts of extractions, organ replacements, and bug exterminations. These are only the few wacky scenarios the player will be thrown into while solving surgical puzzles under a set time limit.

Main Characters

• Alan Probe - The main protagonist of the game. Once a pizza delivery boy, Alan becomes an improvised surgeon after saving the life of Dr. Bleed under his instruction. He's quite confident and makes a name for himself as he helps out more patients along his adventure.
• Dr. Ignacious Bleed - The deuterogonist of the game. A well respected surgeon turned disgraced, surly vagrant due to a terrible incident, Dr. Bleed decided to give up on life until he had met Alan Probe as he hit him with his pizza van. He agrees to mentor Alan, growing a special bond with him as the story progresses.
• Horrace D'Obscene - A mysterious character later revealed to be the indirect cause of the recent crimes in the city. Real name Dwayne Pipe, he was Bleed's former student and was the one responsible for his downfall, making him the main antagonist of the game.
• Aureola née Svelte - She is the vengeful secondary antagonist, though later on she becomes a supporting character. Aureola had discovered that Horrace had murdered her parents in the hospital, so she set off to find him. In the meantime she had begun harming criminals within the city, for she believed it would help cope with her grieving if she put a stop to crime for good.
• Officer Brutality - He is an important supportive role in the game, investigating the recent attacks happening in the city. He is a no-nonsense cop, wanting nothing more but to enforce "The Long Arm of the Law".

Reception

The game has been well received across the board. Often seen as Adult Swim's big leap into games, Amateur Surgeon has created a fanbase world wide as a result of the clever writing, dumb humor, and nods to other media.

Complains and poor reviews are usually minor, such as the method of healing the patient.
